Highlights
The Event
With a successful pilot already underway across the West African Monetary Zone, January 2022 will see the official Africa-wide launch of PAPSS (the Pan-African Payment and Settlement System). Developed with the support of the African Export-Import Bank with a mandate from the African Union, PAPSS provides a pan-African platform and infrastructure for the efficient conduct of cross-border payments. PAPSS will support the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) by enabling fast and secure payments in national currencies, thereby reducing foreign currency transfer costs.
